Installation of 2004 - 2006 Officers. Congratulations to all. |
Thank you for visiting our web site. The Bisayan Connection, Inc. is a non profit organization established in
Panama City on July 2001. Most of our members are Filipinos of Visayan origin. Our purpose to promote
the Visayan culture as part of the Filipino American community and to help the Visayan community in the Philippines and
here, in the US. We strive to eliminate prejudices, stereotypes and ignorance of Filipino Americans especially
those of Visayan origin. We like to promote educational projets and enterprises intended to improve the
economic, entrepreneurship, social and cultural well being of all the members of the organization and to increase awareness of the Filipino American especially the Visayan community of their contributions to social and economic,
cultural and political life in United State. Our goal is to reach out and attract our Bisayan leaders to form a Bisyan
Connection Chapter throughout the United States. Our dream to hold a statewide convention in unity of fellowship and
Bisayan pride is in the near future. We welcome all Filipinos and non-Filipinos to join us in friendship.
We are an active part of our American community. We educate our members to participate in voter registration
and the importance of one vote. Some members served as precinct leaders. We helped local politicians to be elected
for office. We support other Filipino organizations. We also promoted the Sinulog in Panama City.
Pensacola Chapter pioneered the school projects in the Philippines. Over $30,000 was donated
to these schools and to local charitable organizations in the US. Some schools in the Philippines were built from
ground up and approved by the Department of Education. Others were few improvements such as additional
classrooms or painted an old schools. Most of these schools the name of our organization and the names of
the officers were written on the building walls.
Jacksonville Chapter was formed out of desire to help out a fellow Filipino, a grandfather
who was jailed because of lack of awareness of the American culture. In our culture, something very common may
be a crime in the US. He arrived in March and was jailed on April on that same year. BCI Jacksonville Chapter helped
the family raised money to retained an attorney. Bisayan members strongly believed that this grandfather is innocent.
BCI organizations have different goals and objectives. The purpose of the Panama City Bisayan
Connection, Inc. is to make sure that these organizations function effectively, that their accomplishments are well
represented to the community and most of all their objectives and desires will materialized especially
if it is for the betterment of the organization, members and the Visayan community.
